Brussels (Belgium), 17 June, 2026, 07:00 (CEST) – UCB (Euronext Brussels: UCB), a global biopharmaceutical company, today announced the successful completion of its previously announced acquisition of Candid Therapeutics (Candid), a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing novel T-cell engager (TCE) therapies for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
The acquisition strengthens UCB’s position as an innovator in immunology and expands its capabilities in next-generation biologics aimed at achieving immune reset. It brings cizutamig, Candid’s lead investigational asset, into UCB’s pipeline. Cizutamig is a bispecific antibody targeting B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) on plasma cells and CD3 on T-cells, designed to enable T-cell–mediated depletion of pathogenic B-cell populations. The asset is currently being evaluated in multiple Phase 1 clinical studies across a range of autoimmune diseases.
The total transaction is valued at up to US $2.2 billion, consisting of US $2 billion in upfront payments, plus up to US $200 million in potential future milestone payments.
Cizutamig is an investigational drug that has not been approved by the FDA or other health authorities.
